About Mandy
Dr. Downie believes that achieving the best results for her patients involves establishing a partnership where the doctor and patient work together to reach successful outcomes. Prior to returning to her home town in Kelowna, Dr. Downie owned a successful multidisciplinary clinic in the North Okanagan, where she was well known in the community for her excellence in paediatric and pregnancy care.
Dr. Downie takes an individualized approach to patient care and utilizes a wide range of adjusting and soft tissue techniques depending on patient preferences and needs. She is certified by the Academy Counsel of Chiropractic Pediatrics (CACCP) and her training with the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association has provided her the background to take excellent care of children and infants. Helping children to achieve their full potential is a special area of interest and expertise. From chronic repetitive injuries to weekend warrior mishaps, Dr. Downie’s training with the Prague School to Athletic Development allows her to empower patients by providing them with the best possible spinal rehabilitation exercises to speed their recovery and decrease pain.
Dr. Downie completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology with distinction from the University of Victoria. She graduated with her Doctorate degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June, 2011 with clinical honours and Dean’s List for her academic achievements and practical expertise. While working in the North Okanagan, Dr. Downie was also a professor of neuroanatomy at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy and continues to lecture occasionally. Dr. Downie enjoys leading an active life-style in the four-season playground that the Okanagan has to offer and is proud to be working alongside her chiropractic mentors as a member of the OHP team.
