About Daisuke
Daisuke (pronounced “Dice-K”) has been practicing massage therapy in BC since he graduated from Algonquin College in 2015.
He is originally from Japan and from his experience of receiving massages in Japan, he developed his style of working over the clothes/sheet (Most, if not all, “orthopedic massages” in Japan are performed this way).
Although it is ultimately up to the clients’ preference, Daisuke would like to introduce you to this not-so-common style of massage in Canada, so that you are aware of the option.
The benefits of the over the clothes and/or sheet treatment are:
-
It gives the therapist the advantage of “traction” so that the pressure can be applied more directly into the tissues/muscles, as opposed to gliding side-ways.
-
The time taken up for the taking off/putting back on of your clothes and the exposing & covering up of each body part being treated, will all be utilized for treatment itself.
-
This will also be a good option for people who would like a massage but don’t like the idea of being touched on the skin.
Again, this is only to give you an option. If you prefer a more relaxing effect (as well as some orthopedic results), a treatment can be performed with direct skin contact.
If, on the other hand, reducing the muscle tightness is your main goal, Daisuke suggests at least trying it and deciding what works better for you.
